The pacific northwest has some of the best state parks on The Pacific Coast Bike Route, but it usually comes at a cost…rain. For most, cycling the Washington route may be the only rain they encounter for their entire trip, and it’s an experience they will not soon forget. Everything gets wet, and I mean everything. It’s at this point where you and your gear get the ultimate weatherproofing test. Some make it out ok, but for others, they never fully dry out.

The Washington route begins with Moran State Park in the San Juans, then weaves its way down the sound through Whidbey Island and the Kitsap Peninsula, before ending at Cape Disappointment State Park on the coast. Within these seven parks, you experience some of the great gems Washington has to offer like the Deception Pass Bridge, Washington’s wartime forts, and its Native American heritage. You also can’t forget the beautiful views, lush landscapes, and country charm making this portion of the Pacific Coast Bike Route is well worth its rainy admission price.

My goal with this collection was to capture some of Washington's beauty and heritage in each badge. If you would like to see more of The Pacific Coast Badge Series, including the Washington Collection, you can find full series HERE.
