What is Success?
Success is a word we throw around a lot in our culture, and for the most part, it's shrouded in a cloud of mystery as to what success actually means. Some people say status, others say money, possessions or even power. Is success a means to an end, or is it just another excuse by which we can judge others? I heard a quote recently that I think sums up success very well.
I love this quote because it immediately takes out any stereotypes or preconceived ideas of what success is and leaves it up to us. Success gives us permission, permission to be uniquely us, to live and create the lives we want. Now that could include making a certain amount of money, following a dream or having a family but it doesn’t have to. It can be as simple as just living.
For some reason, our culture has done a great job of giving us very little options when it comes to defining success. It’s black & white, this or that. I’m here to argue that it’s so much more. Success is a beautiful journey of life, love, and celebration. A mantra for humanity to be curious, explore and experience life to our fullest.
We can all live successfully but we need to make a choice, to live our lives the way we want or let our culture make the decision for us. Which will you choose?
